4/3/16 - Sub-Adult Intruder (Suspense,
drama, intrigue! Sub-Adult intruder makes himself at home in the nest tree for
about 20 minutes until Dad comes to the rescue.)
4/5/16 - B's Play Dad (UFO
to eat, B7 does the snatch and grab, Mom has a bite or two of the tasty morsel.
Both B's try valiantly to move a branch, just the way Dad does.)
4/7/16 - A Flurry Of Feathers (The
kids were flapping, playing, and preening in the glorious morning sunlight. Dad
brings in a “minnow” and the kids go nuts – converging on poor Dad like there
was no tomorrow. Brave Dad comes back with a good-sized fish, and once the
mantling subsided, he fed them. Mom serves up coot later in the day, and Dad
brings in another fish. Full crops for sure.)
4/9/16 - Scared Babies (Fireworks
in the area and an unexpected rockin’ of the tree due possibly from Mom
returning quickly and making a not-so-good landing on a branch scared the
babies this evening. At one point, it looked like B6 was protecting B7 from the
unknown. All was fine in the pine when Mom showed up to watch over her babies.)
4/11/16 - Scared Babies Again (Dad arrives early with a fish, but the fish is
forgotten because of Dad's agitation. He is quite vocal and on alert. Kids
hunker down. Things calm down; Mom arrives and stays with the kids all morning.
Dad brings another fish in for dinner and one kid steals it.)
4/16/16 - Nest Day (Mom brings in a couple of squirrels today. One B
looks to Mom for help eating a squirrel; the other B casts a pellet. Dad brings
in a fish and Mom chatters away. Mom gulps down the last of the fish. The kids
bask in the evening sun; one rests and the other preens. Mom brings in some
grass.)
4/18/16 - Just Like Dad (Dad brings in a fish and one kid tries to eat it. B6
moves a branch. Mom delivers a mid-morning fish and feeds the kids. The evening
found the kids hopping around the nest. To the dismay of the kids, Mom only
brings in grass before bedtime.)
4/19/16 - I Believe I Can Fly (It was quite the day as both kids mini-branched this
morning. I say “mini-branched” because many observers will argue as to whether
it was actual branching, so I’ll let you be the judge. Fish and squirrel were
on the menu today with one kid mantling over the food and the other snatching
at it. Later in the morning, one of the B’s walked the rail, and in the
evening, one dragged his fish dinner across the nest.)
4/21/16 - Tote That Barge, Lift That Branch (The kids decided a little teamwork was in order to
move a branch this morning, so lift and move it they did.)
4/26/16 - The Huge Fish (Mom
outdid herself this afternoon when she brought in a HUGE fish; the kids loved
it.)
4/28/16 - Mom Diverts (Approach
Cam view of Mom delivering fish this afternoon. It appears as though she
intended to come in the front door, but diverts her path and goes around to the
back.)
