B6 & B7, What Are You Doing?

This is the story our facebook Branch Buddies are telling about what B6 and B7 have been up to since leaving the nest.

B6 is still living with mom and dad, while B7 is out playing with the other Juvies, and eating high on the hog. B6 should have been paying attention in class, and learned how to survive and eat well in the wild, like B7 was doing when B6 was trying to hog all the food. But, all in all, they both are doing well, and will go on to be representatives of their majestic breed. They were educated at Berry College, and who could ask for more?

Hey, B7 over here! Okay, B6 be there in a sec...have an itch...ah, that's better. What's up B6. Oh, what have you there? Something about a circus...it has little clown pics...those eagleholics are something else! Remember when those loving admirers talked about the UPS delivery people...they made us laugh so loud. They have such sense of humor. Mom and Dad were great feeding us and putting up with our little tricks. They are the best-e s t parents in the whole wide world. They taught us well...it was hard so B6 getting ready for our first test flight...yeah, I know B7...but that is what we were meant to do...and we were just great! What a feeling B7...agree? Yep, B6, what an adventure! Hey, see Mom and Dad over there...think they are still watching us? Look, Mom is sending us eagle kisses...guess we'll hang around BC for awhile. Hey, will you join me B6? ... let's fly together over that hill and see what is there. Bye Mom and Dad...love you and love all you eagleholics ... we'll be back to check on you!

I saw B7 catch a HUGE fish and B6 was following behind him and then B6 dive- bombed B7! BUT B6 only got half the fish so B6 only got the tail part and landed on a branch near mom, then after B6 was done with her fish tail, she beak kissed mom, gave her a wing hug and flew off with B7 to the river.

B6: Hey B7, I kinda like this river. B7: I knew you would. You’ve been missing out on a lot! B6: But I wanted to stay around the nest so those humans on the ground would keep taking photos of me. And those humans watching me on cam 1 just couldn’t get enough of me. B7: Wonder if there are any humans on the ground at the nest now. B6: Wanna go see? B7: Naw. It’s much cooler here at the river. B6: Why do those humans call us twins? B7: Because we look so much alike silly! And we hatched so close together. B6: What does hatch mean? B7: It means we broke through the eggshell we were living in. B6: Oh. Okay. B7: Let’s see if we can catch a fish like Mom and Dad do. B6: I’m not sure I can. Can you show me? B7: Oh yes. Dad has shown me how to do it lots of times. Here, I’ll show you. B6: (patiently waiting.) Whatcha you waiting on B7? B7: I’m trying, I’m trying. B6: Hurry and get one. I’m hungry. B7: (yelling) Hey Dad! Uh, could use a little help here. In comes Dad. Dad: Do you kids really expect me to let you get your diver’s licenses? B6 and B7: (both talking over each other) Aw Dad… Let’s go find Mom… She'll help us get a really big fish🐟 that we can both share. B7: "When we are done, let's go to the nest for a surprise visit for all those empty nest watchers." B6: "That sounds like a great idea. We can sneak up on them and listen to what they are talking about, then fly into the nest and surprise them." B7: "Here comes mom with our lunch now. NOM, NOM, yells B7, "me first, me first!"

B7 told B6 that Mom was talking about a place called Chesapeake Bay and that they just may have a summer vacation there in July! 6 is really excited about that!

As they chirped excitedly about their summer vacation, they finished off the big 🐠fish mom brought them for lunch and then headed for the nest tree🌲to surprise the die hard lurkers and chatters that were still hanging around discussing the grass that was now growing in the nest along with a little tree🌿When they got there, they perched on a favorite branch near home and surveyed the area far and wide, looking everywhere for the peeps carrying those big things they used to point at them, but alas, no peeps could be seen so they dropped down into the nest hoping that the peeps looking in on cam 1 could see them. B7: Hey B6, look at that number up there. There's only 67 peeps that have cam 1 open and you know, they might not even be watching. B6: Come on B7. It's no fun if nobody is watching. Let's go back to the river and get Mom to tell us more about our vacation. (They're on their way to the river.) B6: Tell me something B7. Who is this B3 everybody keeps talking about? I mean, I know she is our sister but what was so special about her? B7: Well, I've done a lot of thinking about her and, yeah, you know what some winged rednecks are sayin, because of who our folks are, you know, how famous Mom and Dad are around here. You got that right, Mom and Dad are Rock Stars! Mom says there were a lot of funny lookin sticks on the ground with these big fat branch lookin things tucked across their wings. Always pointing to B3 as if that One was special, or something!" Well, seein' as that kid was a so called ONLY Hatch Mom and Dad had that year. Holey Coot, that B3, is part of us!!!!... So, 6, says ta 7, Just look at us… flyin around like we are the masters of the universe, just like our sibling! I'll have ta admit it, B7, you and I are two forces ta be reckoned with, too! B6 and B7 side eye each other. like they always have, as kids, and as they soar above towers, trees, ponds, lakes, and BAJINGA, they both happen to spot this magnificent Juvenile soaring like them… just about a mile ahead of them, and low and behold B6 wings a hard right, as B7 follows suit, trying to catch a thermal, and realize that One looks familiar… the wings are out stretched, talons held close to its body, head weaving side to side, a lot like Mom when she flies, sorta has a Tina Turner look as the wind catches the hood feathers, as this huge juvie, cuts in and out, takin on what looks like a roller coaster flight pattern. Then B6 along side B7, bank a hard Left, and share THAT LOOK, they always did with each other… WHAM, they remember watchin their Dad after that intruder who happened by the nest, and had the nerve to land close, on one of their favorite branches to the Left , especially when Mom got that fierce look… B6 let out a loud screech, as only B6 can, and both continue to gain speed to get closer to the juvenile. But the juvenile spotted them and decided to have some fun with them. She did a nose dive which allowed B6 and B7 to fly right over her because they were soaring so fast and were not expecting her to dive. She let out a laugh and showed them how to really gain speed, going the opposite way from them. She got out of their sight. B6 says to B7: Did we really see someone or was it just our imagination because we were discussing B3? B7: Uh... I'm not sure now B6. If we did see someone, the kid can handle the air! B6: Let's go find Dad and Mom. We'll tell them about it.

They head to the river because that's where Dad and Mom stay most of the time now. When they get near Dad and Mom they're so excited they both begin talking at the same time. Dad, Mom, we think we seen B3! You wouldn't believe what that kid can do. Dad, Mom, when can we learn to do things like that? Dad and Mom just look at each other and smile. Then Mom says to B6 and B7: Children, there are some things we can't teach you. There are things you have to figure out for yourselves. But don't you worry. It will come to you. As long as you two are here, we need to have a family meeting. Let's discuss the vacation I talked to you about. Again B6 and B7 begin talking at the same time... tell us Mom! Tell us! Are we going to Chesapeake Bay? Is it cool there? We want to go somewhere cool! Mom says, well in that case, if you want to go somewhere cool, I know a place. It's called Brooks Falls. It's in Alaska. Some of the people who used to watch us at the nest🌲have been going there too. We can fly over and see all the bears🐻 that are in the river there catching salmon🐟🐟 and you kids can fly around and make new friends with the sea gulls. B6 and B7 were so excited to be going on vacation with Mom and Dad. The next morning when the sun☀️came up B6 and B7 were "squeeing" with excitement. "Mom! Dad! We are ready to go!" So Mom and Dad and B6 and B7 left for their vacation to Brooks Falls.
