1/3/17 - First Egg Laid. Mom
brings in a big bunch of crunchy-looking brown leaves and she and Dad do some
final nestorations. By 6:18 p.m., Mom gets ready to lay the egg, and at 7:20,
her first precious egg is delivered.
1/7/17 - Mom Lays Second Egg (short version). Mom
is in labor and appears to lay her second egg around 7:34-ish p.m.
1/17/17 - Wee Morning Hours & Into The Night. Mom
takes care of business during the wee morning hours as she checks her eggs,
rolls them, and protects them from Rocky.
1/18/17 - Mom Scarfs Down Tidbit. Mom
tracks Dad; Dad brings in fluff a couple times and Mom brings in a stick, which
Dad later moves and steps on Mom in the process; Dad brings Mom a tidbit.
1/19/17 - A Typical Day. Egg
rolls, shimmies, fluffing, wing stretches, an afternoon snack, chatter, and
shift changes between Mom and Dad throughout the day.
1/23/17 - Mad Dad. Dad
spends the afternoon defending his precious eggs from a persistent sub-adult
intruder, eventually chasing after the intruder when Mom got home.
1/26/17 - Chatty Momma. Mom
chatters away to Dad during an afternoon shift change.
1/28/17- Dinner For Two. Dad
brings Mom a coot for an early dinner, and they dine together.
1/31/17 - Mom Takes A Break. Mom brings in fluff and Dad doesn't want to budge; Mom takes to the afternoon skies leaving the eggs unattended.
