March 2016 Videos (TNT)

3/4/16 - Pine Time (Mom and the babies up by 6:43 a.m. and feeding begins. PS for one baby. Dad arrives and eats a little coot and feeds the babies some fish. Mom back with a stick; Dad brings in grass; and Mom brings in a pine branch to spruce up the nest. Dad works on the front rails. All of this accomplished before 8:00 a.m.)
3/8/16 - Dad's Tail (Mom flips a pine cone branch over the babies; she tosses coot feathers all over the place and enjoys her coot feet. One baby shows an interest in Dad’s tail and pecks at it. Dad moves some branches; grass is brought in; and one baby gets a coot feather stuck in his head. Mom and Dad have a talk.)
3/9/16 - Cover Up (A little morning bonking and healthy PS’s. Fish to eat and a world to see by peering over the rails. Dad brings in a bunch of grass and Mom spreads it over the babies; Dad helps. Mom brings in more grass and completely covers one of the babies.)
3/10/16 - Mom's Crash Landing (Excitement at the nest this evening when Mom appears to crash into the lower left side of the nest. Some chatters thought it was a defense tactic against a squirrel (not Rocky) seen earlier. You be the judge.)
3/13/16 - Dad's Walk on the Wild Side (Mom gulps a fish tail; she makes a hard landing when bringing in a coot with Dad right behind her. Coot feeding and the babies pick at it. Parents on high alert, there’s a sub-adult in the area. Dad takes a walk down the side of nest to see what’s up.)
3/19/16 - Snatch & Grab (Mom brings in a huge branch and struggles with it; one baby tries to move a stick. Dad brings in coot for breakfast, and Mom gulps a foot. Dad works on the branch. B6 tries to eat a coot foot, but Mom snatches it back. B7 snatches the foot from Mom, but Mom gets it back. Mom brings in grass and dumps it on one of the babies. B6 nips at Mom’s talon as she takes off. Fish dinner provided by Dad.)
3/20/16 - Intruder (Mom tangles with an adult intruder. PS and wing flaps; lovely smorgasbord; and Dad lands on lower branch before delivering a snack.)
