April 1 - 5, 2016

4/1 Highlights - Storms in the area during the night. Mom and the kids were noticeably drenched this morning and looking a tad miserable. Mom left the nest at 7:25 a.m. and returned in full force at 11:48 a.m. squawking; she wasn't happy about something. Dad arrives a minute later with a small fish, which was immediately snatched and gulped in a flash! (Jani has a video of the snatch and gulp on her Events Page).

4/2 - Beautiful today, albeit a tad windy. The kids moved around and one played with the leftover fish spine from yesterday. We saw fish heads on the nest and heard both Mom and Dad vocalizing. Mom brought in a branch and had a time moving it around. As you can see, it landed on the kids at one point. Speaking of the kids, they ate fish today and were ready for beddy-bye before 8:30 p.m.







4/3 - Dad brings in a fish at 8:20 a.m., feeds and leaves by 8:39 a.m. Sub-adult intruder branches in the nest tree and stays for 20 minutes or so. Mom is having a fit, vocalizing and carrying on. Dad brings in a fish just before 2:00 p.m., takes a minute to realize what's going on and then chases off the intruder. Video: Sub-Adult Intruder

4/4 - Mom took off from the left branch just before 7:00 a.m. Looks like the B's had plenty to eat today compared to the slim pickin's yesterday. Mantling has begun, and one B likes to practice that self-feeding thing. Dad came in at 11:29 a.m.; it was the first time to see him since the intruder episode yesterday. 

4/5 - Mom came down from the right branch at 12:50 a.m. and spent the rest of the night in the nest. She took off from the left branch at 6:53 a.m., and returned with UFO at 7:40 a.m. B6 gets fed. B7 has a PS at 7:45 a.m. and then moves up for the snatch and grab. Mom has a bite or two of the tasty morsel. She leaves the nest from the left branch at 7:56 a.m. Later in the morning, both B's try valiantly to move a branch, just the way Dad does. Video: B's Play Dad
