May 1, 2016 (Sun)

May is upon us, and as we look forward to the fledging and eventual departure from the nest of B6 and B7, we are excited and saddened at the same time to know that soon they will be gone from the nest and out of our sight. But this is nature, indeed, this is life.

The kids were up by 6:16 this morning raring to go - jumping, hopping, nipping, and branching; having a ball. One cast a pellet before 7:00 a.m., and Mom entered the back door before 7:30 a.m. with a fish. The day had begun for the B's.

If you were lucky, you saw the blue jay at the back of the nest at 7:34 (64:15:45-ish). Mom went to the left branch at 7:35 (64:15:41) and stayed there until 7:57 (64:37:04). Dad showed up briefly with a fish at 7:38 (64:18:44); he left out the back door at 7:39 (64:19:34).

Dad came back with another fish at 10:15 (Cam 1 - 66:56:14, Cam 2 - 18:21:26). He went out the back door two minutes later. B6 did a little circle dance/do-si-do with the fish at 10:20 (Cam 1 - 67:00:45, Cam 2 - 18:25:59).

Dad was back again in the afternoon with a partial fish at 4:07 (Cam 1 - 72:47:50, Cam 2 - 24:13:05). He went to the left branch at 4:08 (72:48:23/34) and took off.

Both B's cast pellets between 6:00 and 7:00 this evening. B6 at 6:21 (63:01:17), and B7 at 6:39 (63:19:27).

There was plenty of fish to eat today as Mom brought in another one at 6:24 p.m. (75:04:58). She went to the left branch and took off at 6:34 (71:14:57/71:15:26).

B6 puts nesting material on B7 at 8:07 (76:48:06), and B7 sneezes.
